Eagles of Death Metal
Hailing from Palm Desert, California, Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band that began their journey in 1998. This dynamic group was formed by lifelong friends Jesse Hughes (vocals, guitar) and Josh Homme (drums), though Homme often remains in the studio due to his commitment to Queens of the Stone Age. Despite their moniker, Eagles of Death Metal isn't a death metal band; rather, the name originated from a humorous twist when a friend of Homme's described a Vader song as death metal, prompting Homme to wonder out loud what a blend of the Eagles and death metal would be like.
The band's sound is characterized by lively bluesy rock with a dash of tongue-in-cheek humor. Their discography includes four albums: "Peace, Love, Death Metal" (2004), "Death by Sexy" (2006), "Heart On" (2008), and "Zipper Down" (2015). Jesse Hughes is known for his energetic interaction with crowds during live shows.
Tragically, during a 2015 Paris performance at Le Bataclan, terrorists attacked the audience, with a total of 89 deaths, but the band members made it safely out of the venue. This event has since become a somber part of the band's history. Eagles of Death Metal continues to play and create music, defining their own unconventional style with each new release.
