Body Count
Meet Body Count – a heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990! They're fronted by Ice-T, the famous rapper who partnered with lead guitarist Ernie C out of their love for hard and heavy music.
✅ Ice-T serves as the vocalist, writing most of the lyrics, while Ernie C crafts the music.
✅ Body Count's self-titled debut album, released in 1992, made quite a stir with tracks like "Cop Killer," but Ice-T later removed it from the record due to intense controversy.
✅ Original members include D-Roc, Beatmaster V, and Mooseman, all playing their part alongside Ice-T. But unfortunately, D-Roc and Mooseman passed away, and Beatmaster V lost a battle with leukemia.
✅ The band has since released six more albums and won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance at the 2021 Grammys.
✅ The current lineup: Ice-T, Ernie C, Juan Garcia, plus backing vocalists, drummer, bassist, and more.
✅ While Ice-T may have originated as a rapper, he and friends Ernie C, D-Roc, Beatmaster V, and Mooseman joined forces in Body Count, blending traditional heavy metal with thrash and hardcore punk influences.
✅ The band gained a unique identity with a rapper at the helm, although Ice-T isn't rapping in most Body Count songs, considering it purely a rock band.
