Xscape
Xscape is an American R&B vocal quartet from Atlanta, Georgia. The group was formed in 1992 by sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott, Kandi Burruss, and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. They were discovered by Jermaine Dupri while singing at his birthday party, and he signed them to his So So Def label.
Xscape's debut album, "Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha," was released in 1993, reaching platinum status. The album produced two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, "Just Kickin' It," and "Understanding." Their follow-up albums, "Off the Hook" and "Traces of My Lipstick," were also successful, both achieving platinum status and producing hit singles like "Who Can I Run To" and "The Arms of the One Who Loves You."
Despite their success, Xscape disbanded in 1998 due to internal conflicts. Burruss and Cottle pursued successful songwriting careers, while the Scott sisters released solo projects. The group briefly reunited in 2005 for a single, "What's Up," but did not release any further material.
Xscape made a full comeback in 2017, appearing on a reality show documenting their reunion and embarking on a nationwide tour. However, Burruss did not participate in new music with the group, leading the remaining members to rebrand as Xscap3 for their 2018 EP "Here For It."
Throughout their career, Xscape has been known for their harmonious vocals and soulful sound, blending elements of gospel, R&B, and hip hop. They have been recognized with several awards, including a Billboard Music Award and an Soul Train Music Award.
