Filter
Filter is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Cleveland, Ohio, by Richard Patrick and Brian Liesegang. The band's music features elements of grunge, industrial, and alternative rock.
Richard Patrick, the band's lead vocalist, had previously been a touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails. He left to form Filter, teaming up with Brian Liesegang, a programmer and guitarist. Their debut album, "Short Bus," was released in 1995 and was a commercial success, largely due to the hit single "Hey Man, Nice Shot."
However, Liesegang left the band in 1997, and Patrick continued with a changing lineup. The band's second album, "Title of Record," was released in 1999 and included the successful single "Take a Picture."
Despite numerous lineup changes, the band has been prolific, releasing several more albums, including "The Amalgamut" (2002), "Anthems for the Damned" (2008), "The Trouble with Angels" (2010), "The Sun Comes Out Tonight" (2013), and "Crazy Eyes" (2016).
Filter's music is characterized by its blend of heavy guitar riffs, electronic elements, and emotive, often introspective lyrics. Despite the many changes in its lineup, the band, under Patrick's direction, has remained a staple of the alternative rock scene for nearly three decades.
