702
'702' is an American R&B girl group that was active from 1997 to 2003. The group was created by record producer Don Kusicat and film director Peter F Films in Las Vegas. The trio, consisting of Kameelah "Meelah" Williams, Irish Grinstead, and LeMisha Grinstead, was named after their hometown area code, which is also the name of the highway that runs through it.
Their first big break came when they sang background vocals for Subway's song "This Little Game". They were later signed to Motown Records in 1996 and released their debut album "No Doubt" in 1997, featuring the hit single "Steelo". The group gained more popularity with their second album "702" in 1999, which included the singles "Where My Girls At?" and "Come Back to Me".
During their career, '702' had several hit singles, including "Steelo," "Get It Together," "Where My Girls At?," "Come Back to Me," "Dope Not Hype," "I Still Love You," "Quiet Place", and the remix of "Slow It Down" featuring rappers Mase and Lil' Kim. Despite their success, the group decided to disband in 2003.
In 2017, fans were surprised when '702' reunited for a surprise TV appearance on "Sister Circle". Although they have not released any new music since their reunion, their music continues to be enjoyed by fans. The group has been praised for their harmony and vocal talents, which set them apart from other female groups during their time.
