Yonder Mountain String Band
Meet Yonder Mountain String Band, a talented group of musicians that will have your toes tapping and your soul grooving! This elite bluegrass quartet sprouted in Nederland, Colorado, and it's been a musical journey since 1998.
Our story starts with the founding members Adam Aijala (guitar and vocals), Ben Kaufmann (bass and vocals), Jeff Austin (mandolin and vocals), and Dave Johnston (banjo and vocals). These guys had a dream to make bluegrass music more vibrant and exciting, blending traditional sounds with fresh ideas.
Yonder Mountain String Band's work is more than just picking strings; it's about sharing their lives and experiences through song. Their music spans a range of styles, from high-energy, upbeat tunes to heartfelt ballads. You'll hear traces of rock, jazz, reggae, and even jam music in their unique bluegrass flavor.
As of 2024, the band is still actively touring, sharing their passion for live performances with fans across the country. They've made quite a name for themselves, releasing six studio albums and appearing at numerous music festivals, like Bonnaroo, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the Northwest String Summit.
Over the years, the band's lineup has also seen changes. Jeff Austin left the group in 2014, but Yonder Mountain remained strong, welcoming new members. Today, Allie Kral (fiddle and vocals) and Jacob Jolliff (mandolin and vocals) join Adam Aijala and Ben Kaufmann to form the dynamic quartet.
Their bond and friendship are felt through every note they play. The group connects with their audience, turning their shows into unforgettable experiences. Yonder Mountain String Band is more than just a collection of talented musicians; they're a family, weaving threads of story and melody that leaves fans wanting more.
