Kittie
Kittie is a Canadian all-female heavy metal band formed in 1996 in London, Ontario. The group was founded by sisters Morgan and Mercedes Lander when they were barely in their teens. The original line-up consisted of the Lander sisters, Fallon Bowman, and Tanya Candler. Kittie debuted with the album "Spit" in 2000, which was a commercial success, driven by the singles "Brackish" and "Charlotte". Their music style combines elements of heavy metal, alternative metal, and grunge.
Over the years, the band has experienced numerous line-up changes, with the Lander sisters being the only constant members. Despite the changes and challenges, Kittie has released six studio albums to date. Their discography includes "Oracle" (2001), "Until the End" (2004), "Funeral for Yesterday" (2007), "In the Black" (2009), and "I've Failed You" (2011). The band's hard-hitting sound, coupled with their raw, powerful lyrics, has earned them a loyal fan base.
In addition to their music, Kittie has also been recognized for breaking barriers in the heavily male-dominated world of metal. They've made significant strides in the industry and have been an inspiration to many young female musicians. Despite their hiatus since 2012, Kittie's influence remains prominent in the metal scene.
