Black Pumas is an American psychedelic soul band based in Austin, Texas, formed in 2017. The group is a collaboration between singer/songwriter Eric Burton and guitarist/producer Adrian Quesada. Their sound is a blend of soul, funk, rock, and psychedelia, a concoction that has earned them critical acclaim and a fervent fanbase.
Eric Burton, originally from the San Fernando Valley, moved to Austin, where he started busking on the streets. Quesada, already a prominent figure in the Austin music scene, was searching for a vocalist for new musical tracks he had recorded.
