98 Degrees
Genres
'98 Degrees is an American pop and R&B boy band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1996. The group consists of four members: brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons. Unlike most boy bands, they formed independently and were later picked up by a record label, rather than being assembled by a label or producer.
The group's first album, '98 Degrees', was released in 1997, followed by '98 Degrees and Rising' in 1998, which included the hit singles "Because of You," "The Hardest Thing," and "I Do (Cherish You)." The album went quadruple platinum, cementing their status in the pop music industry.
In the early 2000s, the band took a hiatus, with members pursuing solo careers and other ventures. Nick Lachey gained fame with his marriage to Jessica Simpson and their reality TV show, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica."
In 2012, '98 Degrees reunited for a one-time performance in the Summer Mixtape Festival, and in 2013, they released their fifth studio album '2.0'. Since then, they have continued to tour and make music, maintaining a dedicated fan base. Their legacy is marked by harmonious vocals, romantic ballads, and a mature approach to boy band pop.
