6LACK, pronounced "black", is the stage name of Ricardo Valdez Valentine, an American singer, songwriter, and rapper. Born on June 24, 1992, in Baltimore, Maryland, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the age of five. His musical journey began in battle rap, but he later shifted his focus to singing, inspired by artists like Sade and Usher.
6LACK's breakthrough came in 2016 with his debut single "PRBLMS". This was followed by his debut album "FREE 6LACK", which peaked at number 34 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified platinum. The album's success helped him earn a spot on The Weeknd's Starboy Tour.
In 2018, 6LACK released his second album "East Atlanta Love Letter", which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and included collaborations with artists like J. Cole and Future. This album solidified his unique blend of R&B and rap, and showcased his raw and introspective lyricism.
